Our Yoga Alliance certified teacher training programs have been created to align with Breathe's core values of "yoga for everyone". Whether you've always dreamed of becoming a yoga teacher or simply want to deepen your own personal practice, we have a training to suit your needs.


The Breathe Method 200-Hour Teacher Training (Fall Session)

Upon graduating from our 200 Hour Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher Training, you will have a comprehensive understanding of yoga asana, pranayama, anatomy, meditation, and philosophy. You will gain confidence through experience by beginning to teach on day one in a safe and supportive group so that you are ready to lead students the day you graduate.

Upon completion of the course, you will be able to register with the Yoga Alliance as a RYT-200 certified yoga teacher.

Topics covered in this program:

• Yoga philosophy, history, and mythology

• Meditation and pranayama techniques

• Anatomy and biomechanics of the physical body in yoga asana (posture)

• Anatomy of the subtle energy body and chakra system - practice & theory

• Teaching methodology, including cuing and voice techniques

• Sequencing strategies to develop creative and effective classes

• Business of yoga… and more!

Our Teacher Training is facilitated by two of Breathe’s senior instructors:

Lacey Smith - Lacey holds a RYT-500 Hour designation from Yoga Alliance. She has been practicing yoga for over 16 years and has 7 years of teaching experience, with vinyasa flow being her specialty. She has trained with many accomplished teachers including David Swenson, Nora Maskey, Baron Baptiste, and Travis Elliott.

Chris Rurka - Chris holds an ERYT-200 Hour designation from Yoga Alliance. He has been teaching yoga full-time for 8 years and has learned from many accomplished teachers including Ana Forrest and Rameen Peyrow.

Price includes unlimited yoga for the duration of the training. Once application is approved a $500 non-refundable deposit is required to hold spot. Full payment is due 4 weeks prior to start date and is non-refundable.

Training will be held from 12pm-10pm Saturdays, and 8am-6pm Sundays at McKenzie Towne as follows:

Sep 21-23, Oct 19-21, Nov 23-25, Dec 14-16, Jan 25-27, Feb 22-24, Mar 22-24, Apr 12-14. *Exact times/hours may slightly vary.

The Mentor Method 20-Hour Teacher Training Intensive

Join Angelique Panther, E-RYT200, YACEP, for this 20-hour Yoga Alliance accredited intensive designed to give you the skills and confidence necessary for a successful yoga teaching career. This course is for all teachers looking to improve upon current skills and business acumen.

Topics include:

• Improve your Teaching – learn effective and safe sequencing techniques, finding your voice, basic adjusting skills, practice teaching with constructive feedback to help you grow

• Create your Professional Portfolio - audition preparation & tips, playlist creation, goal-setting, social media marketing, invoicing, taxes, resume, bio, headshots, building your following and finding your niche in a very competitive industry

Graduates will receive an opportunity to teach at The Practice, a class co-taught to the public by fellow graduates.

The Barre Method 10-Hour Teacher Training Intensive

This 2-day intensive is designed to give you the tools and techniques needed to choreograph and facilitate a fun, dynamic and results-based barre class that is inspired by proper alignment and posture.

Topics covered in this training include:
  • Proper alignment principles inspired by yoga and ballet
  • Appropriate variations and modifications
  • Choreographing to music and creating fun playlists
  • Incorporation of props in a safe and effective way
  • Ballet terms and vocabulary
  • Introduction to pre and post natal barre classes

Training will be held at McKenzie Towne as follow:

Saturday, November 3rd from 3pm-8pm

Sunday, November 4th from 1:30pm-6:30pm

The Yin Method 25-Hour Teacher Training

Yin yoga consists of longer postural holds, breath work, meditation and controlled movement. A consistent Yin practice will assist with the release of areas of the body that tend to be more dense and restricted such as connective tissues, joints and ligaments.

In this program you will learn:

  • introduction to yin philosophy, related principles and benefits
  • the difference between yin and yang and how to move energy throughout the body
  • how to integrate mindfulness into a yin practice through self-inquiry exercises
  • the most common yin postures and their proper alignment
  • how to effectively utilize appropriate props
  • how to give safe and effective adjustments
  • how to effectively design classes
The Yin Method is a weekend intensive suitable for all levels of teachers and students who wish to learn how to integrate yin into their yoga practice.


*This Yin training qualifies towards Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Credits and all attendees will be issues a certificate of completion.

Liane Knox, ERYT200, has been working as a yoga instructor and wellness educator throughout Calgary since 2009. Liane is internationally trained in vinyasa flow through Frog Lotus Yoga and has complete the Yoga Therapy Certification at Mount Royal University. She is also certified in pre/post-natal yoga, adjusting, yin yoga and functional movement. Liane continues to be intrigued by the power of the mind-body connection and strives to elevate her students' journey both on and off the mat.

The Adjuster Method 20-Hour Teacher Training

The Adjuster Method is a practical 20-hour intensive training designed for yoga teachers and experienced students who are interested in expanding their knowledge of alignment and anatomy as they relate to common yoga poses. As a teacher, this training will improve your confidence to guide your students into a safer practice through the use of physical and verbal cues. As a student, this training will encourage a more safe and sustainable personal practice.

This training includes:
  • Study of basic anatomy and general alignment applied to sun salutations, standing postures, backbends, forward folds and twists
  • Principles of adjusting - developing skills in observation, communication, intention setting and connection
  • Instruction on how to avoid common misalignments and injuries
  • Appropriate use of props and modifications
  • Hands-on experience in practicing key adjustments
  • Developing succinct and alignment based cuing

Join Angelique Panther (E-RYT200, YACEP) as she cultivates community, connection and trust in this fun, interactive training.

Training will be held at McKenzie Towne as follows:
Saturday, November 17th from 12:00pm-10:00pm
Sunday, November 18th from 8am-6:00pm

Optional Add-on - Mentorship Program

  • 10 hours of hands-on experience in a public class setting
  • 5 hours of one-on-one coaching customized to help you develop tangible adjusting skills

  • Limited registration. Must have 200 hours of YTT.
